Avery produces some of the best craft beers I have ever tasted. I am always looking for their beers, especially ones I have not had. DuganA IPA is one of those. I could not believe I had never had this beer.

This beer was poured into my trusty Star Wars Luke Skywalker pint glass, the color was a dark, hazy burnt orange with a very thin white bubbly head which quickly vanished, this resulting in no lacing left on the glass.

Right upfront on the nose, I was slapped in the face with intense hop aroma such as citrus fruit, floral notes, and pine. There is a slight smell of maltiness behind the hops. Very well balanced, but very intense.

The taste of this beer is right there with the aroma. Loads of citrus flavor, mild floral, and a piny bite! For me personally, the hops overpowered any other flavors which were supposed to be present, but I could not get any hints of the malts in there. This beer even left a skunky, dank after taste, which is not exactly a personal favorite of mine, which is why I just could not give this a 4-5 skull rating.  The body was medium, with decent amount of carbonation making this an easy drinking beer. It had a smooth feeling with a spiced bite at the end. I do have faith in myself that one day the skunky taste in some IPAs will appeal to me, just as Sour beers grew on me, and trust me I HATED sour beers at first.

With a name like duganA, and the artwork displayed on the label, I thought of no one else but MELECHESH. I chose the song¬† “The Magickan And The Drones” off their 2010 full length album, The Epigenesis. This song came to me right away cause of the beginning intro to the song. I was wishing I had a little more duganA IPA to give it another try while jamming to this amazing song at high volume.

Cheers, BeerMetalDude!
